Volkswagen offers its long-running Golf platform in two hot hatchback flavors. The spicy Golf GTI utilizes a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine, turning the front wheels with a peppy 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. It also includes various handling enhancements, including sport-tuned suspension, a limited-slip differential, and available upgrades like adaptive dampers and performance tires.

Available in a single, standalone trim, the VW Golf R comes fully loaded with amenities like heated and ventilated front seats, three-zone automatic climate control, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and leather upholstery. Tech features include a new 12.9-inch touchscreen, a Digital Cockpit Pro instrument panel, a head-up display, Harman Kardon premium audio, and a full roster of IQ.DRIVE driver aids.

The VW Jetta and Jetta GLI receive a midcycle refresh for the 2025 model year, including more refined accommodations, a sleeker exterior aesthetic, new wheel designs, and a larger standard touchscreen. They also make a few amenities more accessible at lower trim levels, including wireless charging and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

Under the hood, a peppy yet efficient 1.5-liter turbo-four engine generates 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The Taos is nicely equipped across a streamlined three-trim lineup, including standard features like alloy wheels, an 8-inch VW Digital Cockpit gauge cluster, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration. Plus, every VW Taos includes IQ.DRIVE assistive technologies like Front Assist (forward collision mitigation), Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, and Active Blind Spot Monitoring.

Volkswagen has announced a major refresh for the 2025 VW Taos. While the automaker has yet to release any specifics, a reveal is planned for late Q3 of 2024.

The VW Tiguan is motivated by a 2.0-liter turbo-four, sending 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque to the wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel-drive models have three rows and seating for seven. Folding the rear seats expands cargo capacity from 12 to 33 cubic feet behind the second row and 65.3 behind the first. All-wheel-drive models have a traditional two-row, five-seat layout with a bit more roomy for rear passengers and a larger cargo area (37.6 - 73.4 cubic feet). The VW Tiguan is nicely equipped, including standard features like heated front seats, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, and IQ.DRIVE safety technologies. Notable upgrades include driver memory, ventilated front seats, a hands-free liftgate, and automated parking assistance.

Heading into the 2025 model year, the VW Tiguan is all new for its third generation. While Volkswagen has been closely guarding the details, we know the 2025 Tiguan will get a bold new aesthetic, more interior refinement, and updated technology. It will also introduce new powertrain options, including a plug-in hybrid with an impressive VW-estimated 62 miles of electric-only range.

A recent midcycle refresh has given the Atlas Cross Sport several significant upgrades, including updated styling, more standard features, and enhanced performance. Under the hood, a new high-output 2.0-liter turbo-four (269 horsepower, 273 pound-feet of torque) is standard across the Atlas Cross Sport lineup, providing improved torque and efficiency over the previous six-cylinder option. SE and SE w/ Technology trim levels have standard front-wheel drive, while Volkswagen's signature 4MOTION® AWD system is optional for those models and included in higher tiers.

The refreshed VW Atlas Cross Sport has significantly expanded the standard equipment list, including several premium amenities often reserved for upper tiers. Even the entry-level SE trim includes features like heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, V-Tex® leatherette upholstery, proximity entry, and dual-zone automatic climate control. New standard technologies include a 12-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, IQ.DRIVE assistive technologies, a wireless charging pad, and the VW Digital Cockpit Pro (10.25-inch digital instrument panel.

For the 2025 model year, the Atlas Cross Sport and Atlas get a few minor updates, including upgraded 15W wireless charging and standard Light Assist. The top-tier SEL Premium R-Line adds a few luxe touches, including new perforated headrest upholstery, four-way lumbar adjustment, and front-seat massage.

The VW Atlas's recent refresh mostly mirrors the updates in its Cross Sport sibling. However, a new Peak Edition is exclusive to the larger three-row model. Available for SE w/ Technology and SEL trim levels, this package accentuates the Atlas's rugged character with unique design details and dark trim pieces. It also includes a panoramic sunroof and 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires.

The ID.4 comes standard with a 12.9-inch touchscreen, heated seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a digital instrument panel, and a full suite of IQ.DRIVE assistive technologies. Depending on the configuration, you can access upgrades like a hands-free liftgate, a panoramic glass roof, a 360-degree camera system, and ventilated front seats with memory and massage.

The 2025 ID.7 will first debut with a single RWD powertrain that generates 282 hp and 402 pound-feet of torque. An all-wheel drive variant will arrive later in the initial launch cycle, increasing horsepower to 335. The company hasn't provided specific mileage ratings. However, the aerodynamic design could enable a range of more than 300 miles per charge.
